Travel To Washington State

Comment first! »

For any family looking for a vacation to a diverse place, check out all that Washington State has to offer. Washington State is widely known as a rainy area of the country, but this isn’t necessarily the truth. While there is a rainy area of the state, the state overall has much more to offer.

Greater Seattle Area
Seattle is a beautiful large city with a vibrant shopping and waterfront area. Many water recreational opportunities are available in and around the city as Puget Sound and the nearby lakes plays a large role in the metropolitan life of the greater Seattle area.

Olympic Peninsula
From Port Angeles to Neah Bay and more, the Olympic Peninsula is a true natural wonder. Home to the Olympic Mountains and the breathtaking Hurricane Ridge, the Olympic Peninsula is one of the most accessible and rugged natural areas in the United States. It is also home to the must be seen Hoh Rain Forest.

Pacific Coast
From Ocean Shores to Long Beach, the Washington State coastline is unlike the coastal areas found in other areas of the country. With wide open beaches and rugged rock formations, this isn’t anything like the beaches you see in Hollywood movies and television.

The Cascade Mountains
With multiple roadways that cross the mighty Cascade Mountain range, beautiful places like Mount St. Helens, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams and more are relatively easy to access and enjoy.

Eastern Washington
Much of the area in Eastern Washington gets no more rainfall than a great number of desert areas in the south. For many years the land has been used for agricultural purposes and in summer months it is easy to find fresh produce like apples, pears, cherries, potatoes, corn, grapes, and more. Eastern Washington also has a very active winery industry.

There is much more to Washington State than just rainfall, it must truly be seen to be appreciated. From the ocean, to the beaches, to Puget Sound, to the Cascade Mountains, and finally the temperate Eastern Washington area, few states can match the diversity offered by Washington.

A Tent Trailer Is A Great Investment For A Family

When it comes to family vacations and getting out of the house, few things are as fun and rewarding as camping. The biggest things that stop people from camping are the “hassle” of setting up a tent and tearing it down and getting all the other things like cooking supplies setup. A tent trailer, new or used, eliminates most of that hassle. You can pre-pack all the cooking supplies in the kitchen area and there is no tent to setup. Tent trailers are usually light enough to pull behind most vehicles and once you set them up at the campsite, you still have the mobility of your car/truck if you want to go for a drive or run into town.

Camping is a great way for families to bond together. Having a tent trailer makes it easy to get out even if it is just for the weekend.

Visit The Pacific Northwest

We’re quickly coming up upon the time for travel. Spring, summer, and early fall are all great months to take a long weekend or a full fledged vacation. Looking at places to visit this year, don’t forget the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The states of Washington and Oregon are extremely diverse in what they can offer. They are both thought of as green, forested, and rainy. While there is some truth in this, the western sides of these states offer some of the more beautiful forest areas in the United States, the Northwest is more than just one big rain forest. The east side of the Cascade Mountains also offers some great scenery, and in some places it is almost desert like in the amount of yearly rainfall it gets.

Some highlights of Washington and Oregon:

Washington:
Seattle
Mount Rainier
Coast
Columbia River
Lake Chelan
Long Beach
Grand Coulee Dams
North Cascades Pass

Oregon:
Portland
Coast
Columbia River Gorge
Crater Lake
Columbia River Dams
Bend

Summing up these two beautiful States in one short blog post isn’t possible. A trip that would be well worth it, especially if you’re into the outdoors.

What is the worst part about a family vacation? The fighting and arguing that invariably occurs? No, this is long forgotten and sometimes looked back on as a quite funny situation. The worst part about a family vacation is being back home and feeling like you missed out on something. Once the vacation is over, it isn’t like you can go back and do that one thing you forgot to do, after all you’re home now.

If you’re visiting New York City in the future, one way to avoid that situation is by taking your family on one or more New York City bus tours. There is literally no chance of missing out on something when you have a native of the city showing you the sights and sounds that make New York City the focal point of the world that it is. A brochure from your travel agent or a travel review found online cannot possibly substitute for a tour guide who wants to show off his or her city. See the city the way it is meant to be seen, through the eyes of a local resident.

Let FamilyInNewYork.com show you the real city… not just the tourist traps.
